About Light The Night

At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night we gather as a community to celebrate, honor, and remember those touched by blood cancers. Friends, families, schools, corporate teams, and sponsors join together to bring light to the darkness of cancer. The funds raised by this community fund lifesaving research, advocacy and support for blood cancer patients and their families. Join us in the fight to cure cancer!

Event Festivities: 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Opening Ceremony/Walk: 7:00 PM

Post Event Festivities: 8:30 PM

How long is the walk? Approximately 1 mile

What is allowed at the event:

  • Dogs
  • Strollers
  • Wheelchairs

Is there a bag policy? No, there is not a bag policy

Can participants turn in donations at the event? Cash and checks will not be accepted at the walk, but there will be ways to donate digitally the night of the event. All other donations can be sent to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Mountain Region P.O. Box 102488, Pasadena, CA 91189-2488

Will there be food? Food will not be available for purchase, teams are welcome to bring picnics and snacks of their choice.

What if it rains on the event day? The in-person event is rain or shine.

Is the event appropriate for children? Yes! Light The Night is a multi-generational event! The Kids Zone will feature many different games and activities for children.

How can I pick up a lantern? All registered participants receive a lantern to be picked up at the Lantern Tent at the walk.

Do kids need to register? Children 12 years old and younger do not need to register but must be accompanied by an adult to receive a lantern at the event.

How do I get a T-shirt? All registered participants who raise $100+ on their individual fundraising page will receive a t-shirt that can be picked up at the walk.

What incentives are there for reaching fundraising milestones?

$100 - Become a Champion for a Cure to receive the official t-shirt

$1,000 - Bright Lights will receive a long-sleeve shirt and get exclusive access to the VIP Tent at the event

It is highly recommended that all blood cancer patients or other immunocompromised individuals check with their healthcare provider before attending this event. While at the event, we urge our community to respect anyone’s choice to continue to take precautions like masking or social distancing.

There will also be a virtual event experience provided for any participants who would prefer to not join us in-person, held on November 19, 2024.

We acknowledge some participants might need ADA accommodations. We do our best to provide these accommodations at every location, however, depending on weather and venues, it may be difficult for participants using wheelchairs to move freely around all areas of specific walk sites. If you have questions or need support, please call us at 888-557-7177 in advance to discuss accommodations. Meeting the needs of all participants is very important to the Light The Night experience.

Road Closures and Parking Restrictions The entrances to Washington Park will be closed to vehicle traffic with the exception of vendors, staff, and VIPs who have parking placards for the event. The lot by the boathouse will be reserved for VIP attendees.

The paths around Washington Park will be busier than usual, especially when the walk takes place, beginning around 7:30 p.m.
