July 4th Celebration 2026
The annual July 4 celebration at the Boathouse in Washington Park will be held again this year on Saturday July 4th, from 11am to 1pm at the Washington Park Boathouse!
This has been an extremely popular and well attended event, again hosted by both East (WPENA) and West (WWPNA) Washington Park Neighborhood Associations.
The steering committee, again composed of volunteers from both WPENA and WWPNA, has been meeting to organize the event and contact local businesses for support. Their previous generosity has enabled the event to include The Brass Quintet of The Denver Municipal Band, balloon artists, professional face painters, magicians and the most popular, FREE Bonnie Brae Ice-Cream. We hope the Denver Fire Department is again able to provide a fire engine for kids and adults to explore. Volunteers will be needed to help kids decorate their bikes, scooters and strollers for the overwhelmingly popular vehicle parade adjacent to the Recreation Center, followed immediately by the distribution of free ice cream.
The formal event is from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Boathouse, but preparation begins at 6:30 AM with transportation of tables and chairs from the Washington Street Community Center.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
We are looking for strong volunteers moving the tables and chairs at 6:40 AM, the faster we can get them to the Boathouse and unloaded, since the trailer must be out of the parking lot by 8 AM. Hopefully volunteers will be able to donate their time to set up the tables and the 12 canopy tents, generously donated by residents.
Volunteers will also be needed at 1 PM to load the tables and chairs on to the trailer and take down the canopy tents, since DPR requires the Boathouse and surrounding site to be empty by 2 PM. As you can appreciate, volunteers are critically needed at the beginning, during and at the end of the event to ensure success. Please use the contact us form to sign up to volunteer.
