What’s New at Eugene Field Branch Library?
Denver Public Library’s summer reading program, Summer of Adventure, is in full swing! It’s not too late to sign up your early learner, school age kid, or teen. Prizes include a free tote bag and anytime youth ticket, finger puppets, shaker eggs, a day at the Zoo, and more! The first day to pick up prizes is June 30. To sign up, register online or visit Eugene Field Branch at 810 S. University Blvd.
Denver Public Library’s Database of the Month
Have you tried NoveList Plus yet? It’s a librarian favorite and an excellent resource for book clubs, finding read-alikes, and so much more. Stop by the branch and a reference librarian will be happy to show you its new interface and hidden gems! Can’t make it in? Learn more about how Novelist can help you find your next great read or listen using story elements such as appeal terms, themes, and genres. It’s available for free with your library card from this page (scroll to the bottom).

for Families & Older Adults
Families Create: Ocean Diorama: Calling all ocean lovers!
In this fun drop-in workshop, you'll create an underwater ocean or shore habitat diorama using clay, paper, glue, seashells and more. Bring a neighbor, friend, or family member and enjoy a fun crafternoon together. Summer of Adventure giveaways included.
Advanced Directives: Advanced Directives
Who will speak for you when you can’t speak for yourself? Jill Wisehart from Exit Elegantly, will be talking about the importance of having Advanced Directives in place to ensure that your wishes are clearly communicated. Jill is a Life Transitional Specialist and Certified Death Doula. Get your questions answered at this informal presentation! Registration is not mandatory but encouraged. This is a presentation for folks 50+ and will occur on Thursday, July 31 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Eugene Field Branch Library.
Art Journaling 50+ (in person): Found Poetry
Explore creative self-expression through art journaling! Each month, we will create a new journal page exploring a medley of art mediums. All experience levels are welcome. Each class is designed as a standalone experience; come to as few or as many as you like. This month we’ll be focusing on creating “found poetry” and associated art in our journals. All materials provided and no registration required.
Discover Walks: Local and Regional Geography of the Front Range
Join us as we walk and talk with Craig Cogswell, retired high school teacher and frequent Discover Walk attendee! Craig was awarded the prestigious Colorado Teacher of the Year Award. He will talk about the Front Range in terms of physical geography and human geography. Meet by the Washington Park Boathouse near the intersection of E. Exposition Avenue and S. Franklin Street on Wednesday, August 20 9:30-10:30 a.m. This is a walking program for folks 50+. Visit denlib.org/discoverwalks for weather cancellations.
